The American Bus Association (ABA) has named the Gettysburg Festival one of the top 100 Events in North America. The event is held each June and is one of Gettysburg’s most popular events throughout the year. This year was the event’s first ever so the honor is a distinctly precious one to local folks.

The ABA has been naming the best events for 27 years now. The top 100 events are whittled down from 524 fairs, festivals, parades, and shows all across North America, which includes Canada. Other events honored by placement on the list with the Gettysburg Festival include the Hudson River 400th anniversary “Celebration of Discovery” in Albany, New York, Lake Champlain’s 400th anniversary in Montpelier, Vermont, and “Tall Ships Nova Scotia Festival 2009”, which will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia next July.

To create the list of top 100 events, the American Bus Association chooses a 14-member panel to research and analyze events based on broad appeal and traveling accessibility. The 2009 Gettysburg Festival will take place June 18-28.
