Gettysburg Pennsylvania, as small a community as it is, is one of the most commercialized communities in the nation. Most people who come to Gettysburg come to see the battlefield, but there is more to do here than just walk around (or drive through) an old battlefield. Though, if you do come to Gettysburg, you don’t want to miss the main attraction.

But do you want to hire a professional tour guide?

There are plenty of tour guides here in the Gettysburg area, and plenty of guided tours. You can take a group tour or an individual tour. Whatever is your preference. But a tour guide isn’t necessary for the full enjoyment of the area. Though the knowledge that a tour guide has to offer can increase your understanding of the events and the historical significance of the battlefield and surrounding sites. It’s a choice that you’ll have to make for yourself and your family.

If you decide not to hire a tour guide for your next trip to Gettysburg, you can take a two-hour driving tour through the battlefield with a tape from the visitor center. They also offer a three-hour driving tour. And there are bicycle tours and walking tours as well.

When it comes to enjoying Gettysburg Pennsylvania, keep in mind that a tour guide is not essential, but a professional tour guide can be helpful.
