If you are sending a son or daughter to Gettysburg for college then you might want to know that the college security is clamping down on off-campus parties held by fraternities and sororities. Some of the concerns of local residents who must endure the drunkenness, loud music, and fighting in their neighborhoods include local high school students and students from other high schools in the Adams County area trying to get into the parties. When these high school students are denied access to the college parties a fight often erupts, which disturbs the peace.

A word to the wise: If your son or daughter is going to college at Gettysburg and they are from out of town, try to get them involved in local organizations that will give them some background and experience in the history and culture of the area. Instead of attending wild parties at night, they should be studying and preparing for the future.
