My wife wants to go to the Parade of Chrome tonight. Since it’s Bike Week in Gettysburg this weekend this is one of the biggest things going on tonight. Last night we were in town for the monthly poetry reading at Ragged Edge and before and after the event we’d sit on the sidewalk in front and watch the bikers throttle by. Not bad for free entertainment.

So tonight we might end up doing the same thing. If you’re in town this evening, around 7 p.m., stop what you’re doing and watch the parade of motorcycles flying by. Listen to the hum of tires on street and the rattle of motor and metal as 20,000-something-odd bikers drive by and wave to the cheering crowds. It’s an experience you won’t find in your hometown I’m sure.

Yes, the bikes are noisy. Some people don’t like it. But my wife and I do. And if you don’t mind the noise and just enjoy watching people enjoy themselves, then the Parade of Chrome could be your gig.
