I’ve lived in Adams County, Pennsylvania now for over two years. Prior to that my wife lived in York County for two years while I was deployed to Iraq with my National Guard officer. I visited when I could.

In the four years that we’ve lived in Pennsylvania, I’ve noticed that the attitude of the people in the York and Adams counties area of Pennsylvania is much the same as it is where I’m from - North Texas. People here have a down-home attitude and see the world through the eyes of a grim and proper regionalism that is respectable and coupled with a hard work ethic. It’s easy to see why folks in this neck of the woods are so hospitable.

People in Gettysburg are particularly friendly, perhaps because they are used to seeing tourists in town. Whether you are here for Bike Week, reenactment weekend, or you’ve just come to see the battlefield, Gettysburg residents will welcome you with open arms. They are friendly people, and that’s why I like it here.
